Aircraft Directorate

About
Directorate of Aircraft headed by Director (Aircraft) encompasses facilitating airworthiness certification and continued airworthiness certification coverage for fixed wing military aircraft (both combat and transport), and unmanned aerial vehicles. Further, co-ordination with aviation wing of armed forcesis also a responsibility of Director (Aircraft). This Directorate is responsible for technical supervision and monitoring of activities of the RCMAs under the directorate and also formulation and implementation of policies related ab-initio aircraft certification, aircraft upgrade programs and life revision activities pertaining to various fleets in Indian Military. In addition, this directorate also carries out certification activities of certain ab-initio projects like transport aircraft, UAVs. The directorate acts as a direct interface between the user services, design agencies and CEMILAC for matters related to fixed wing aircraft.

RCMA (Aircraft):
RCMA (Aircraft) is responsible for continued airworthiness certification of western/indigenous aircraft programmes including LMC, upgrades, repairs, life revision & integration of external stores.

RCMA (Aircraft-R&D):
RCMA (AC-R&D) is responsible for Airworthiness Certification of ab-initio designed aircraft currently in the R&D and pre-production stage.

RCMA (Nasik):
RCMA (Nasik) is responsible for Airworthiness Certification of indigenous airborne spares &rotables, life extension, integration of external stores and modifications on Russian origin fighter aircraft operated by IAF.

RCMA (Kanpur):
RCMA (Kanpur) is responsible for ab-initio airworthiness certification and continued airworthiness of military transport aircraft.  

RCMA (Lucknow):
RCMA (Lucknow) is responsible for Airworthiness Certification of accessories during design, development, production, repair and overhaul.
