DIA-CoEs
DRDO establishes DRDO Industry Academia Centre of Excellence(DIA-CoE) at premier and capable academic Institutes and Universities in the country to build Directed Research Eco-system through collaboration among DRDO labs, Academia and Startups/Industries. DIA-CoEs will pursue research both in developing the cutting-edge technologies and in the areas of denied defence technologies
DRDO Patents
To provide boost to Indian industries and Defence industries, through free access to Indian patents by DRDO.
Export - support
DRDO support industries in evolving the specifications of the export variant of the products (based on DRDO technology) to enable industries to respond to the RFPs. DRDO also carries out customization in the product to meet the requirement of customer countries based on the requirement of the Industries. The "DRDO SOP for Export of Military Equipment" facilitate Indian industries and DRDO labs to provide necessary technical support to industries for responding to RFI before necessary approval from MoD is obtained by the industry
DDPMAS
The “Procedure for Design, Development and Production of Military Air Systems and Airborne Stores (DDPMAS)” is the MoD document for regulating all the activities pertaining to design, development and production of military air systems and airborne stores. This document was first released in 1975 and later revised in 2002
Certification Services
CEMILAC gives airworthiness certification to Indian Airborne Platforms. The airborne platform can be Aircraft, Helicopter, Parachute, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle and Aerostats. Each System, Line Replaceable Unit (LRU), component, material and the software which goes into airborne platform of Indian Military needs to be certified. Any system/component/material which is either externally or internally mounted to airborne platform needs to be certified by CEMILAC to meet armed forces requirements in terms of performance, reliability and life. As an end product towards certification a type certificate is issued which is commonly known as type approval, which is an authority to produce/manufacture the product under the supervision of government inspection agency and designated RCMA. The certification activities are in accordance to a government document namely DDPMAS-2002- Volume 1 & Volume 2 (It is available in guidance material section).
Startups Support
Spearheading the innovations under ‘Make in India’ program, the Technology Development Fund (TDF) Scheme of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) promulgates the development of defence and dual-use systems, subsystems, Components or technologies, for a product that is Indian Designed, Developed and manufactured (IDDM). The idea is mainly to promote Micro, small, Medium Enterprises (MSME) including Star-Ups to develop innovative products for our forces. DRDO looks forward to technically competent companies with futuristic ideas and vision for marching ahead in the service of the proud Nation.
Test Facilities
DRDO is developing critical Defence technologies and systems to cater the need of Indian Armed Forces and other agencies of GoI. The Labs of DRDO have state-of-art infrastructure including ‘Test Facilities’. It has been decided to provide access to these ‘Test Facilities’ on payment basis to Indian industries (Private/Govt/DPSUs/PSUs)engaged in Defence manufacturing (including under ‘Make in India’ initiative).
Industry Support
DRDO, over the years, has substantially enhanced the technological capabilities of Indian industry through various policy initiatives, sustained engagements and intense technology transfers. DRDO is taking these efforts to next level to transform India into a hub of advanced defence technologies developing state of the art defence equipment and systems.Government policies, especially with respect to ‘Make in India’, ‘Start-up India’, ‘Stand up India’, ‘Skill India’ and ‘Atmnirbhar Bharat’ have provided new opportunities. These are being leveraged to develop defence R&D and manufacturing eco-system in the country
