DRDE, Gwalior is the nodal lab for the development of Chem-Bio defence technologies and has made significant scientific contributions towards national preparedness against use of Chemical and Biological Warfare agents. Dr. D. K. Dubey is associated with this lab for the past 36 years and has gained expertise and experience on the Chem-Bio Defence technologies. The scientific endeavours of Dr. Dubey are exclusively focused on the development of detection, protection and decontamination technologies against Chemical Warfare Agents. He has made significant contributions in the development of efficient and up-scalable synthetic procedures of warfare agents, enzyme based nerve agent detection devices, decontamination formulations, state-of-the-art analytical procedures and materials for forensic and verification analysis of warfare agents. He is the founder of Vertox Laboratory which is the internationally recognized national centre for the off-site analysis of chemical warfare agents from environmental as well as biomedical samples. The laboratory is holding the OPCW designation status since 2006 and playing active role in safeguarding the nation’s defence and economic interests. Besides these, Dr. Dubey has represented the nation at various national and international forums for chemical disarmament. He has contributed as a researcher and a team leader in various projects accomplished at DRDE pertaining to chem-bio defence. He is recipient of many awards including the prestigious DRDO scientist of the year and Agni Award for excellence in self reliance.
