Arun Chaudhary Joined DRDO in September 1994 as Fellow Student of Mechanical Engineering Fellowship Course -5 at IAT Pune. He was joined Snow and Avalanche Study Establishment , Manali (HP), as Scientist’ B’ in September 1995 after completing his training at IAT.

There he worked for development of technologies to assess and mitigate the avalanche hazard till he was transferred to DRDO Hqrs in October 2011. At SASE developed various avalanche / snow drift control structures and same were installed in high altitude snow bound regions of Himanchal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir to minimize its the effect of avalanches on deployment and operational planning of Indian Army.

He conducted avalanche safety and rescue training to Army soldiers deployed in snow bound areas. Also carried out post avalanche accident analysis in snow bond areas of HP and J & K including at Siachen.

He participated in Indian Scientific Expeditions to both South and North Poles i.e Antarctica and Arctic. There he established field Laboratories to carry out snow and glacier studies, and carried out energy and glacier mass balance studies.

At DRDO HQ. he had worked in the Directorate of Combat Vehicle & Engineering (DCV&E), Directorate of Low Intensity Conflict (DLIC) and O/o DG (PC&SI) before taking over the responsibility of Director DIITM in Feb 2023.

He is instrumental in drafting/formulation of various policies and guidelines; these include ‘Transfer of Technology (ToT) to industry’, ‘Selection of Industry as Development Cum Production Partner (DcPP)’, ‘Induction of DRDO developed systems into services’, ‘SoP for Export of DRDO of DRDO developed systems’, SoP for Use of DRDO Test Facilities by Industry’, ‘SoP for Export of DRDO developed systems. He has also participated in compilation of compendiums on ‘DRDO products having Export Potential’ and ‘DRDO-Industry Partnership - Synergy and Growth'.

He is B Tech in Mechanical Engineering from GBPUAT, Pantnagar and M Tech in Satellite Technology & Application from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He is Certified Reliability Engineer from American Society for Quality. He is alumni of prestigious National Defence College, Delhi. He is also a Life member of Aeronautical Society of India. He is recipient of “Technology Leader Award”, "Siachen Medal” and "Technology Day Medal”. He has published number of Technical Papers in National and International Journals and conferences.
