Dr Narendra Kumar Arya, Scientist ‘G’, is appointed as Director ER & IPR w.e.f. 1 January 2024. Dr Arya is a B.Tech (Hons) from IIT Kharagpur, M.Tech from IIT Kanpur and Ph.D. from IIT Delhi. He joined DRDO as Scientist ‘B’ in June 1990 at Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL), Hyderabad. Later, he joined LASTEC, Delhi and worked there in the field of Gas Dynamic Lasers. In July 2008, he was appointed as Scientific Adviser to Chief of the Air Staff (SA to CAS). In Sep 2019, he was appointed as Director, DPI at DRDO Hqrs, New Delhi. In February 2022, he was transferred to Aeronautics Research & Development Board and worked as its Secretary till December 2023.
Dr Narendra Kumar Arya is a Fellow of The Institution of Engineers (India) and Member of the Aeronautical Society of India, Systems Society of India, Indian Laser Association and Society for Aerospace Quality and Reliability. He was selected for IGMDP senior fellowship for composite materials during M.Tech and also became solo glider pilot in IIT Kanpur. He has received various awards and has many research papers to his credit, which have been published in national and international journals.
