Kailash Kumar Pathak is appointed as Director, Directorate of Futuristic Technology Management (DFTM) with effect from 24th Sept 2019. He received his BSc Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from AMU, Aligarh in Year 1985 and M.Tech in Solid Mechanics & Design from IIT Kanpur in year 1994. He started his career as Scientist ‘B’ at Armament Research and Development Establishment (ARDE) in February 1987.
He has steered the design, analysis, development and dynamic testing activities of various armament systems for more than 25 years. He contributed in many important projects / programs such as 30mm Air Defence Gun System, 120 mm Cannon Launched Guided Munition (CLGM), and Fin Stabilized Armour Piercing Discarding Sabot (FSAPDS) munition. He has expertized in design and analyses of armament systems using Computer Aided Design (CAD) / Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) tools and set up state-of-the-art virtual product development facility. He was entrusted various lead responsibilities during his professional journey as Division Head, Group Head and Project Manager at ARDE.
He joined as Associate Director in Directorate of Futuristic Technology Management (DFTM), DRDO HQrs in May 2014. He contributed for developing a framework, policy formation, planning, execution and management for establishing new DRDO Industry Academia - Centres of Excellence (DIA-CoEs) in the premium academic institutions across the country for multi-institutional and multi-disciplinary collaborative directed research. Under his direction along with continuous monitoring & meticulous planning, Long Term Directed Research Policy (LT-DRP) was formulated & successfully released in October 2021. The policy has its framework to bring all stake-holders (DRDO, academia, national research institutes and Startups / Industries) on unified platform for collaborative technology development. He has played a key role in planning and implementation of directed research at existing DIA-CoEs and setting up new DIA-CoEs. He has been continuously contributing and endeavoring to create collaborative directed research Eco-system within for translational research to develop crucial & cutting-age technologies for nation’s defence and security.
