DIPAS, Delhi

Defence Institute of Physiology & Allied Sciences (DIPAS), Delhi, organised a course on Six Sigma Philosophy for Achieving Extra High Quality in R&D Activities during 16-18 August 2004 in association with Institute of Technology Management (ITM), Mussoorie. Dr PK Banerjee, Director, DIPAS, inaugurated the course. Dr Narendra Singh, Director, ITM, was a faculty member. Twenty-nine participants from Delhi-based DRDO labs/estts attended the course. Dr (Col) DP Attrey, Sci E was the Course Director.

DMRL, Hyderabad


Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory (DMRL), Hyderabad, organised a course on Advanced Topics in Mechanical Behaviour of Materials during 9-13 August 2004. Dr A M Srirama Murty, Director, inaugurated the course which was attended by eighteen participants from various labs/estts. Dr G Ma1akondaiah, Sci G was the Course Director while Dr SV Kamat, and Dr N Eswara Prasad, both Sci F were the Deputy Course Directors.

GTRE, Bangalore

Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE), Bangalore, organised a course on Conducting Inquiry-Role of Presenting/Inquiry Officers’ during 26-30 July 2004. Twenty-one participants from various DRDO labs/estts attended the course. Shri GM Nagabhushana, Senior Income Tax Officer, Bangalore, was the Chief Guest and gave away the certificates.


HEMRL, Pune


High Energy Materials Research Laboratory (HEMRL), Pune, organised a course on Solid Propellants for Rockets and Missiles: Conventional and Advanced Systems during 12-16 July 2004. Dr Haridwar Singh, Emeritus Scientist and Dr MK Jana, Head, Structural, Design and Analysis Division, VSSC presided over the inauguration and valedictory functions, respectively. Thirty-nine participants from various DRDO labs/estts and other institutions attended the course.

NMRL, Ambernath

Naval Materials Research Laboratory (NMRL), Ambernath, organised a course on Polymers and Coatings for Marine Applications during 23-27 August 2004. Twenty-six participants from various DRDO labs/estts attended the course. Dr J Narayana Das, Director, NMRL inaugurated the course.

DIPAS, Delhi
Defence Institute of Physiology & Allied Sciences (DIPAS), Delhi, organised a workshop on Campus Security, Fire Safety and Disaster Management during 19-21 July 2004. Thirty-five participants attended the workshop. The highlight of the workshop was its entire proceedings in Hindi and production of a booklet on security instructions in Hindi entitled, Suraksha Anudesh. A lecture-cum-demonstration was also organised by Delhi Fire Service on 21 July 2004. The workshop was highly successful in enhancing the awareness about security among the ground level staff.

DLRL, DARE, & GFAST

             Shri Sandlas inaugurating the Workshop

Defence Electronics Research Laboratory (DLRL), Defence Avionics Research Establishment (DARE) and Group for Forcasting & Analysis of Systems & Technologies (GFAST) jointly organised a DRDO Workshop on Electronic Warfare Systems and Technologies during 6-7 August 2004. Shri G Kumaraswamy Rao, Director, DLRL, welcomed the dignitaries and participants. Shri VP Sandlas, Distinguished Scientists, CC R&D (ECS) inaugurated the workshop and delivered the inaugural address. Admiral Raman Puri, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, ADC, CIDS delivered the keynote address. Shri N Divakar, Emeritus Scientist, DLRL delivered an invited talk on Current EW Scenario and Shri RP Ramalingam, Director, DARE spoke on Trends in Airborne EW. The workshop ended with a panel discussion.

 

INS, Shivaji, Lonavla
Naval College of Engineering (NCE), INS Shivaji, Lonavla, has witnessed yet another glittering Passing Out Parade of 70 officers (11 officers from 89th Basic Engineering Course and 59 officers from 16th Naval Engineering Course) on 5 June 2004. Rear Adm SKK Krishnan, AVSM, VSM, Admiral Superintendent, Naval Dockyard, Mumbai reviewed the parade. Adm Krishnan was the Chief Guest for the valedictory function.

ITR, Chandipur

Interim Test Range (ITR), Chandipur, organised a training programme on Software Engineering during 12- 16 July 2004. Experts from Jadavpur University, Kolkata were drawn to train ITR professionals. They provided their expert guidance in Software Engineering to fifteen participants of this establishment in accordance with the Range requirements.ITR, Chandipur organised an application oriented short term training course on PCI Bus-based Application for Realization of Time Code Reader from 26 July 2004 to 7 August 2004. Ten scientists of this establishment participated in the programme.
