Continuing Education Programme

sspl, Delhi

Under the continuing education programme (CEP) of DRDO, the Solidstate Physics Laboratory (sspl), Delhi, organised a course on Physics of Semiconductor Devices, during 13-17 March 2000. Fifteen participants from sspl and the Instruments Research & Development Establishment (IRDE), Dehradun, attended the course. The topics covered during the course were: physics of semiconductors, physics of IR devices, junction and interfaces, photonics and opto-electronics, microwave devices, and MESFETS/HEMT/MOS/BJT/CCD. Dr Vikram Kumar, Director, sspl, delivered the valedictory address and distributed course certificates to the participants. Dr SC Gupta, Sci 'F' sspl, was the Course Coordinator.

PXE, Balasore

The Proof & Experimental Establishment (PXE), Balasore, organised a course on Weapon Technology and Evaluation, during 27-31 March 2000. Seventeen participants from various DRDO labs/estts attended the courses. The topics covered during the course were: gun design, ammunition design, barrel failure, and range and explosive safety. The faculty was drawn from PXE, ARDE and IRDE. Col RK Yadav was the Course Director.

Other Course

Special Computer Course by NIIT

The National Institute of  Information Technology (NIIT), Balasore Branch, organised a special drive to increase computer literacy efficiency among the officers and staff of the Proof & Experimental Establishment (PXE), Balasore, in January and March-April 2000. Twenty officers participated in two courses of 36 hours duration each. While another one course for 16 staff personnel of 16 hours duration was also organised. The topics covered during these programmes were: MS Office, internet and e-mail.
