Continuing Education Programme

Naval College of Engineering, INS Shivaji, Lonavala organised a Course on Computer Aided Engineering during 24-28 March 2003 for the benefit of Naval Officers and DRDO Scientists. Dr VP Singh, Sci G, delivered the welcome address. The topics covered during the course were: finite element analysis, CNC programming, reverse engineering, virtual and augmented reality, and robotics. Fifty-three participants from various DRDO labs/Naval establishment, DGQA organisation, and the industry attended the course. Prof LS Bhargava, Sci F and Shri T Paneer Selvam, Sci C were the Course Director and Course Coordinator, respectively.

Workshop on Nano-Materials : Science & Technology
A two-days Workshop on Nano-materials: Science & Technology was organised by Defence Laboratory (DL), Jodhpur during 3-4 April 2003. Dr RV Swamy, CC R&D (MLS) inaugurated the workshop. Sixty delegates participated in the workshop, which included Directors and senior scientists from various DRDO labs/estts. Shri RK Syal, Director, DLJ welcomed the delegates and hoped that at the end of the workshop certain areas will be identified to formulate collaborative programmes with DRDO, and research & academic institutes. Dr N Kumar , Joint Director, Defence Laboratory , Jodhpur made a theme presentation of the workshop and gave an overview of the international status of R&D work on Nano-materials.

Programme on Reliability and Quality Assurance
Research Centre Imarat (RCI), Hyderabad, in  coordination with ISRO, organised a Programme on Reliability and Quality Assurance during 3-5 April 2003. Shri SK Ray, Associate Director, RCI inaugurated the programme. The lectures covered topics on R&QA management for spacecraft-present trends, electronic packaging process control, environmental testing, reliability modelling, EMI/EMC testing, reliability analysis, electronic components screening/failure analysis. Sixty participants from various DIRECTORates attended the programme. Shri Rajendra Prasad, Director, R&QA, RCI was the Course Director.

Workshop on Tolerance Accumulation &  Analysis

RCI, Hyderabad, organised a Workshop on Tolerance Accumulation & Analysis during 15-16 April 2003. Thirty-five participants  attended the Workshop. The contents of  Workshop were importance of tolerance accumulation & analysis, geometric, orientation and positional tolerances, etc. Shri WN Raghupathi, Associate Director (W) , inaugurated the workshop. Shri Rajendra, Prasad, Director R&QA, was the Course Director while Shri Harminder Singh Johar  was the Course Coordinator.
