NEW NORMS FOR INTELLIGENCE TESTS AT SSB

The Defence Institute of Psychological Research (DIPR), Delhi, has developed two new intelligence tests together with norms to meet the requirements of the Armed Forces. In the Services Selection Board (SSB), candidates of various age groups and different educational qualifications appear for various entries like National Defence Academy (NDA), Indian Military Academy (IMA), Officers Training Academy (OTA), Short Service Commission (SSC), Technical Graduates Commission (TGC), University Entry Scheme (UES), Women Special Entry Scheme (WSES), etc. Thus, there was a requirement from the Services for construction of norms for various entries.

A project was undertaken at the SSB to construct entry-wise norms for the new intelligence tests for use in the selection of officers to commissioned ranks. The two battery of tests were administered on 1993 candidates of different entries, appearing before SSB, Al1ahabad. Conversion table and five-point grade norms have also been prepared. The Adjutant General Recruiting, Ministry of Defence, has accepted the tests for selection of candidates.
