SA TO RM RELEASES DRDO LIBRARY AUTOMATION SOFTWARE

          An indigenous DRDO Library Automation Software (DLAS) has been developed by Defence Scientific Information and Documentation Centre (DESIDOC), Delhi. Shri M Natarajan, Scientific Adviser to Raksha Mantri released a CD along with the manual during DRC meeting on 12 September 2005.The software comprises six integrated modules for automating various library management functions viz., Acquisition, Serials Control, Cataloguing, OPAC, Circulation Modules, and Web OPAC.

         The software is accompanied with a detailed user's manual for help in installation and operation of the software. The same was distributed to DRDO participants in the CEP course on Library Automation held during 21-25 December 2005 at DESIDOC. The overview of software was given by Dr Mohinder Singh, Director, DESIDOC and the training for its operation was provided by the DLAS development team. The cost of similar integrated software in the international market is about Rs 10 Lakh. The development of this intregrated software will pave way to the networking of Libraries/TICs of DRDO.
