of Society of EMC Engineers (India). He is Fellow of IETE, a life member of Society of Electronic Engineers, an Associate member of 'dB' Society, USA and a Member of Aeronautical Society of India. He was a member of Study Group' A' on Nuclear Effects.

He has authored more than 90 technical papers and 50 technical reports. He has written five chapters on EMI/EMC, NEMP and HPM for a book on 'EMC', published by IETE, India. He was awARDEd the MN Saha Memorial Award of IETE-1994, EMC Engineer of the Year-1998 of Society of EMC Engineers (India) and DRDO Lab Scientist of the Year-2003.

Shri A K Gulati, Director (MS), Scientific Analysis Group (SAG), Delhi, graduated in Aeronautical Engineering from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, in 1967 and joined DRDO in 1968. He

has worked on various Aero-engine
Research and Development projects and
programmes at GTRE, Bangalore during 1968-81.

At Directorate of Aeronautics, R&D HQrs, he made significant contributions in area of Military Airworthiness and Certification. A concept for concurrent certification of material for Kaveri engine was introduced. The setting up of overall facilities of M53P2 engine for Mirage-2000 has been steered under his leadership. Indigenisation of components for Russian fleet and POL items were also initiated. Number of projects under ARDB were initiated during his stay at this DIRECTORate acquiring three patents and numbers of innovative processes for material and propulsion system. At Directorate of Personnel, R&D HQrs, he has made contributions in career planning and growth of DRDO scientists.

At SAG, he successfully planned roadmap for induction specialised manpower required for crypt analysis projects. He evolved training and job enrichment programmes for scientists and other employees on advanced techniques in mathematics related to crypt analysis and intercept and communication systems, network security, software development. Shri Gulati is a Fellow of Aeronautical Society of India. He has 35 technical papers to his credit.

Shri D S Vathsal, Director, Extramural Research and Intellectual Property Rights, DRDO HQrs, New Delhi, obtained his ME from the Birla Institute of

Technology, Pilani in 1970 and PhD from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 1974. In the same year, he worked in the Satellite Launch Vehicle project SLV-3 of VSSC, ISRO under Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. He visited NASA Goddard Space Flight Center as a senior NRC NASA Postdoctoral Fellow during 1984-86 and worked in the area of non-linear filtering for spacecraft attitude determination.

He joined DRDL as Sci E in 1987 and has served the laboratory in various capacities. His research interests are in modern missile guidance using optimal estimation and control and game theory, parameter identification, fuzzy logic control, application of neural networks, signal processing, wavelets, and image processing techniques. He has conducted extensive training courses on Application of Kalman Filtering Techniques for Navigation in Aerospace Engineering Department, IISc under NAL-UNI lecture programme, Bangalore, and in the Research and Training Unit
