Sealed Housing for Evaporative Determination (SHED) Facility is a state-of-the-art method for determination of evaporative hydrocarbon emission for petrol engine vehicles, which has been procured, installed and commissioned at Vehicle Research and Development Establishment (VRDE), Ahmednagar. Dr CL Dhamejani, Director, VRDE inaugurated the facility on 20 July 2005. The tests were carried out in accordance with the type approval procedure documents issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

Measurement of evaporative emission from gasoline vehicles is a part of CMVR testing. As per the Bharat Stage III (Euro III) emission norms, four types of emission tests are carried out viz,. mass emission, idling emission, crank-case emission, and evaporative emission.
