1. Circulation: Issue and Return

  • The borrower may return or renew the book on or before the due date. For renewing, presentation of the material along with the booklet/tickets is necessary. Renewal is not permitted if a demand is pending for the material.
  • The library can recall material after two weeks of issue. Materials to be replaced on reserve can be recalled any time.
  • The library can refuse to issue books to a borrower having overdue books.
  • A borrower going on leave with or without salary, deputation, study leave, or extra-ordinary leave will have to return all borrowed material before leaving INMAS.
  • Loss of Documents
    1. For loss of document(s) by a member, he/she must:
      1. Replace the latest library edition (hard bound) copy of the same document(s), if available, or
      2. Pay the latest catalogued price of the library edition (hard bound) copy of the same document(s) plus 10 per cent of the price as service/technical processing charges in case document(s) is (are) not available in the market, or
      3. if document[s) is (are) out of print, pay up to 3 times the latest known price of the document(s).
    2. In case of loss of some issue of a periodical, it has to be replaced or cost of the entire volume must be paid, In case of loss of a single part of a multi-volume publication, the issue has to be replaced or cost of the entire set has to be recovered from the borrower.
    3. The library will suspend all its services to the defaulters till the recovery is made and the recovery note duly certified is received back from his/her office by the Library In-charge.

2. Reference Service:

We offer following services in order to meet the information needs:
  1. Reference Assistance: Library provides in-person assistance at a designated Information or reference desk. Providing reference help in the library is often the most effective way of getting your questions answered. Please don't hesitate to ask the librarian for help in locating materials, using the computerized catalogs and databases, or for information about library services.
  2. Telephone Reference and Electronic Reference services: We answer questions over the telephone and also answer questions submitted through the e-mail. This method is usually best for factual or directory type questions, certain other types of questions may be best answered in person.

3. Document Delivery Service:

Document Delivery Service basically refers to the supply of photocopy of research papers from journals or conference proceedings, against a request from a user either through the librarian or from the users directly. The users can send their request either by post, E-Mail or Fax. On the bases of users request for photocopy of any article/articles of journals the library.


4. Inter Library Loan:

  1. The document(s) demanded by any borrower will be obtained on Inter-library an (ILL) basis from other libraries, if such document(s) is (are) not available in the library.
  2. Such document(s) will be issued to the borrower for a minimum period of seven days only or less as stipulated by the lending library and he/she must return the document(s) on or before the due date. Otherwise the fine charged by the lending library will have to be paid by the borrower.

5. Reprographic Service:

  1. Photocopy: Photocopies of available literature are provided for research use free of cost to DRDO users.
  2. Scanning:Facility of scanning of images and text matter is available free of cost, but only for academic purposes

6. Current awareness service:

  1. Book Alert Service:This is a monthly listing of the new books, Special collection like WHO Publication, Reports, Institution publication, CD-ROM added in the library.
  2. Periodical Alert Service:This is fortnightly listing of the new periodicals received in the library during the fortnight.
  3. Bibliographies on Demand:The staff of the Library compiles bliographies as and when demanded by the readers.

7. E-Based Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI) Services:

The library informs to their clienteles every week on their e-mail account as follows:
  1. List of research articles appeared in journals, edited books, conference proceedings, seminars on health Management studies and related disciplines.
  2. List of new books, journals available in the market on our subject.
  3. Acquisition list regularly with the interval of a month.

8. Internet and E-Mail Service:

With realising the importance of providing communication technology, library has access to INTERNET facility that encompasses a broad range of services to augment education and research activity. INTERNET service is provided to all the faculty, staff, students & research officers of the institute.


9. Citation Analysis Service:

Library is providing citation analysis service to library users for their research papers published in national and international journals on demand.


Loan Priviliges

  1. The number of documents, which the members are entitled to borrow will be decided by the respective library as suggested in the following:

  2. Director/Head of the Laboratory/Establishment/Unit 8 documents
    Scientist B to Scientist F or equivalent 5 documents
    Technical Officer to Senior Technical Assistant or equivalent 3 documents
    Other staff   documents 2 documents
    Temporary Library Members Nil

  3. Documents are generally issued only for a specific period, preferably 30 days, and they must be returned or renewed, if not reserved by other members on or before the date last stamped on the date-slip of each document. If any document is required for urgent use, it may be recalled at any time. If the documents are not returned within 30 days, future issue of documents may be stopped.
  4. No document will be issued without the signature of the borrower on the prescribed loan card.
  5. On return of documents the borrower can collect his/her loan card duly cancelled by the counter staff.
  6. Rare books, out-of-print books reference books, periodicals, magazines/newspapers, CD-ROM databases, patents, theses, standards/ specifications, globes, atlases, and other reference documents will not, be issued for use outside the library. However, in emergency cases, they may be issued for short duration of, say, a couple of hours or overnight, at the discretion of the head of the laboratory/establishment
  7. New document(s) will be first issued to the indenters after their display period is over. Renewal of such a document(s) to the same member will not be allowed if the Library In-charge feels that the document(s) is (are) to be made accessible to other readers also.


Reservation of Documents

Members can reserve the document(s) they desire to borrow which are issued to other members by filling in the prescribed Document Reservation Form. An intimation about the availability of the document(s) will be given to the members when the document(s) is (are) available for issue. The reservation will be on first-come-first-served basis.



Overdue Documents

  1. Regular reminders will be sent for return of overdue document(s) to the concerned members. A list of overdue document(s) for a period of more than 6 months will be brought out to the notice of the head of the laboratory/establishment.
  2. If a member fails to return the: document(s) an or before the due date, a red entry will be made on his/her borrower card, After the third red entry, his/her membership will be liable to be suspended for a period of six months at the discretion of the head of the laboratory/establishment. During the period of suspension of membership, he/she will not be given any library facility except reference service.
  3. Overdue document(s) will not be renewed over telephone; the document(s) has (have) to be presented at the library counter personally for renewal
