Dr SR Vadera, Sc G, has been appointed as Director, Defence Laboratory, Jodhpur. He did his MSc in Physics from the University of Jodhpur in 1980 with University Gold Medal and worked there as Junior Research Fellow during 1981 to 1983. His doctoral research is in the area of Mossabuer Spectroscopy, which he completed in 1989 from the University of Jodhpur.
He joined DL, Jodhpur, in 1983 and carried out R&D work in the areas of Mossbauer Spectroscopy, Conducting Polymers and Nanomaterials. He was actively associated with the development of a number of strategically important products including anti-radar paint (RAP MK-I), Cam and IRR paints, anti-static and radiotransparent paint (RDM-1), etc. Some of these items are being bulk productionised for the use on military equipment. Dr Vadera has more than 50 research papers published in international journals. He has also published a number of technical reports, and has co-authored a Chapter in the Encyclopaedia of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology published by the American Scientific Publishers, USA. He is an approved guide of the University of Jodhpur and Indian Institute of Technology, Rajasthan, and has been on the Academic Advisory Board of Marwar Engineering College and Research Centre, Jodhpur, and on the Research Board of Thapar University, Patiala. He has delivered invited talks on advanced materials including conducting polymers and nanomaterials in several international and national conferences/seminars.
As a member of the team, he received the DRDO Technology Cash Award in 1996. Dr Vadera has represented DRDO to deliver an invited talk on Nanotechnology at an International Conference in Brazil organised by the Brazilian Army in 2009. Besides, he has visited several countries including Sweden, Belarus and Canada on scientific assignments. He is life member of various professional societies including Materials Research Society of India, Magnetics Society of India, Optical Society of India, Indian Association for Radiation Protection and Nuclear Track Society of India.
